Three Weeks Already???

As I was letting the teacher know in my class, Schoan, in case you didn't know, I realized that I would miss one day of the fourth week and two in the last week for my trips. It was then that I realized that it had been three weeks as my possibly only year of being a TA, which really made me upset. I actually care, and I cannot believe that time has gone by so fast. It is so weird to me. I wish that I had more time, or could anticipate more summers, but I just don't know what will happen. I guess that is is a good thing that I do not know what to expect. Then maybe I will have more time with these kids. It is still so weird that it has been 3 WHOLE weeks.

I'm All Alone, There's No One Here Beside Me...

Today, my teacher had to go to a funeral. So instead of calling a sub, or something, she decided to let me take over the classes for the day. This was a little-no, very scary. I had to decide what they would do, how they would do it, and when. I was very afraid of my authority over them, but... dah dah dah dah! It was great. my worst class was my first class because a kid didn't want to listen, but it went very well. I was using threats too, but I guess whatever works right? They had some fun, and they had a lot of work, but I will be going back tomorrow so...(that is a good thing by the way.)

I Am Sleepy, Tired, and I Have Three Classes?

Well it is Thursday, which is one of the tiredest days ever, but oh well. That would have been fine if, I did not have to teach three classes on top of that. The other TA in my room is not helpful. She sleeps, she reads, she does everything but help me, and the teacher. So I was on my own, and I may be for a couple of days next week. On top of that I had to run to get copies again! I went so far as to tell couple of students that they had better appreciate all that we do for them. I hope that they do.

Phew I'm Tired!

I absolutley hate days when I am tired, it is hot, and the last thing I want to do is have a busy day. That was one of those days. I truly did not want to wake up this morning, but I had to, I have an obligation, and after yesterday, I knew that I was going. So I relaxed on the bus, and I took it easy during my prep, and the rest of the day was smooth sailing. I helped the kids out, with their worst enemy, fractions, and they hopefully understood it, and that was it. I even had three girls that wanted my facebook, and one called me cool, which for a nerd is pretty awesome. I made it over the hump, so two days left.

I Love These Kids!

I had a revelation today. Today I realized that I was meant to be with these kids. I am truly glad that I get to spend the time that I do with them. I do not know why it happened, but while my class was doing their warm-up it occur ed to me that there was no doubt that I became attached to them. I talked to many of the kids today and found out how each one of them has their own style, personality, and mind set. They have begun to trust and listen to me. I think that they are finally realizing that I am there for them, not because I have to be, or just to say that I was doing something noble, but because I care and believe in them. Even my most difficult student, is glad to have me {I am pretty sure :)}. I am not just a TA, but a friend, a disciplinarian, and a mentor. There is no place that I would rather be this summer. I am so glad that I am a TA of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

First Fun Day Friday!

Today was the last day of my first full week of being a TA. It feels as thought it has been an entire semester. I got to teach almost everyday and tutor, and play around with music. We Played a game today and they got to see my true personality, and I got to see theirs. I have has the longest week that you could everr imagine, I had to run in the rain, jump over fences-literally, solve a couple of cirisis' and do it all while having to juggle two differernt programs, going to the movies, teaching Jeremy chess, and I am tired, but I have had one of the best weeks that I could ever have hoped for. 4 more weeks to go!

What I Do Best

There are a couple of things, that if you knew me, you know I do well. Three of them are math, tutoring, and music. Well, while being a TA, I was able to do all of those today. First, I got to teach another math lesson (LCM). I was keeping them engaged and interested. Then when five students didn't quite get it, I was able to tutor and council them again. I gave words of advice to my 8th graders, and to students who aren't even in my classes. Then I worked on the choir elective for my teacher. I was able to download and listen to music all day! That is like a little slice of heaven for me. Then to top it all off, I had my laptop, which of course, everyone adores. It didn't rain, but it was hot. However that didn't matter, because I was able to do what I do best.
